ḤADĪTH OF THE DAY

“ The Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Both the buyer and the seller have the option [to complete the sale or rescind it], as long as they have not yet parted ways nor finalized the sale." When Ibn-'Umar bought something while sitting down, he would stand up in order to confirm his purchase (1). Footnotes: (1) Standing up would signal the end of negotiations and thus render the option to rescind no longer valid. ”

Sunan at-Tirmithiy

Muḥammad Ibn-K'ab said, "I came to Anas Ibn-Mālik in Ramaḍān when he was about to travel; his baggage had been mounted onto his camel and he was dressed for travel. He called for food and ate. I asked, 'Is this a sunnah (the Prophet's tradition)?' 'It is,’ he replied, and he mounted."(1) Footnotes: (1) This hadīth shows that when one intends to travel it is permissible to eat while still at home, before setting off.
